Story
OK, so 2012 is going to be a year of firsts for me :o)
For some insane reason I decided it would be a good idea to run a half marathon this year even though I had virtually no running experience when I started training in January - apparently, sprinting to class didn't count!
Finding motivation has been difficult, especially when its been cold and wet outside (and that was just the summer holidays!). I was also out of action for a few months after picking up a stress fracture half way through training - not my best moment! But its been fun and I'm hoping to raise a pot of money for a good cause :o)
SOS Africa is my chosen charity for this new adventure. They are an emerging charity dedicated to providing education for some of the poorest and underprivileged children in Africa. Every £600 raised enables SOS Africa to send a child to school. As someone who works in education, I realise just how lucky youngsters in the developed world are to have access to a good quality education with proper resources and time dedicated to their development. Education is a right, not a privilege; something I think in our busy lives we sometimes forget.
Check out their webpage at http://www.sosafrica.com/index.htm for more info :o)
Every single penny you donate will go towards the charity's work - their admin costs are funded entirely through GiftAid. So even if it's only pennies you can spare, every little bit counts :o)
Thanks guys...
