Story
I am going on a cycling adventure that promises to be the most challenging of my life thus far. Starting on March 12th 2012 and finishing on 27th March 2012, I going to attempt to cycle between the 3 capital cities of Great Britain. Starting outside Holyrood in Edinburgh, I'll then make my way towards the Senedd in Cardiff and finally on towards Westminster in London.
I am doing this because I believe that the challenge of climate change is one that affects everyone, whether you live in a developing country or here in Britain, we're all in this together! In Britain we are fortunate that there are plans in place to help us live in an environmentally conscious way. In developing countries this is often not the case and we have to call on our leaders to continue to commit to international talks and agreements that will see developing countries develop in an environmentally friendly way.
Please give generously in order to support the work of Christian Aid partners who are working with poor communities to eradicate poverty. This is because the poorest communities in the world are already being affected most. The partners are enabling to adapt such things as the unpredictability of extreme weather like drought and flooding. Climate justice is all about making sure that industrialised nations facilitate access to green technology so that developing countries can benefit but not at the cost of the environment..
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I am really excited but really nervous too, as I'll be covering more distance than I did when I did the Land's End to John O'Groats. During the event will be updating twitter. Also keep up to date with me on facebook.
Thanks
Catherine
