We fund two clinics in Bhopal to help the survivors of the 1984 Disaster

Story

Hello everyone.

In April I'm going to be running the Brighton Marathon, and helping to raise money for the Bhopal Medical Appeal, a charity which funds medical clinics helping survivors of the Bhopal disaster. The scale of the disaster, the extent of the death and illness caused - and still being caused - is really staggering. The wikipedia page is a good place to start for some more information. I'm going to be running along with others from the University of Sussex - the team page is here.

I only really started running about a year ago, when I decided that forcing myself to run round Brockwell park on a Saturday was suitable penance for going out on Friday night drinking and smoking and so on. My friend then convinced me to run the Brighton half marathon (February 2011), and since then I've grown quite addicted to it. I'm going to be fairly ambitious and aim to finish the marathon in 3:30.

Anyhow, I hope you can donate something. I'm aiming to raise £500, and collectively we hope to raise £10,000.

The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds two clinics giving free treatment to survivors of the 1984 Bhopal Disaster (the World’s worst industrial disaster). It also treats thousands of people who are being slowly poisoned by drinking water contaminated with chemicals never cleared-up from the disaster site.
