Hi everyone,

 

Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page!

 

As you know, Catalina and I have been in South Africa for the past 2 years working on GVI’s community development projects in impoverished communities in the Cape Town area. During this time we have been lucky enough to witness the incredible difference being made by the projects to so many children, adults and whole communities. To assist with our long term objectives we are hosting a charity challenge to raise some much needed funds which will enable us to take a significant step towards sustainability at two of our project sites, Ikhayalethemba Village Orphanage and Hope Centre Pre-school. Please see our main team page for full details of these amazing causes.

 

The larger challenge is to complete 350km in 5 days without any motorised transport. For a select bunch of fitness fanatics (crazy souls!) this is the task ahead of them. Unfortunately Catalina and I will be forming the support team to assist and motivate them so we can't take part in the full challenge (!) but we will be hitting the road to take part in the final day along with the whole GVI Cape Town team of staff and volunteers.

 

Along with a few dozen others, we will be walking from our base in Fish Hoek to Kirstenbosch Gardens at the foot of Table Mountain. This is about 25km and should take a good 5-6hrs. Then we will be climbing to the top of the mountain. This may take 2-3hrs and will complete a very long and arduous day.

 

While we know you all get lots of requests to support many worthwhile causes if you would like to support us and the projects that are very dear to both our hearts it would be truly appreciated. Thank you and wish us luck!
