Maggie's Centres are for anyone affected by cancer. They are places where people are welcome whenever they are needed – from just being diagnosed, or undergoing treatment, to post-treatment, recurrence, end of life or in bereavement. Maggie’s is working hard to create a network of cancer caring centres across the UK to deliver a community based cancer support programme.

 

I first became aware of Maggie’s after seeing a film called ‘Third Star’ which tells the story of twenty-nine year old man living with terminal cancer. I was so moved by this devastating story of what a cruel disease cancer is, striking anyone at any part of life, that I felt compelled to find out what support there was out there for sufferers and those closest to them and what I could do to help. The lead actor of the film was involved with Maggie’s work and as the founder of Sherlockology I wanted to help by attending the ‘Open House London Night Hike’, which is a twenty-mile walk through late night London to be held on Friday 16th September 2011.

Maggie's essential services for people affected by cancer are dependent on money raised by people sponsored by YOU for fundraising events. No matter how small the donation, it really could make a MASSIVE difference to people’s lives.
