Story
Anchor House is a residential/life skills centre based in the heart of the East End of London in Canning Town, in Newham (3rd most deprived borough in England & Wales). Over 180 marginalised homeless people stay at Anchor House each year and over 1000 local people and residents access accredited vocational training courses provided in-house by Anchor House to help them improve their skills training and employment opportunities. Newham has one of the highest levels of homelessness and unemployment in the UK and Anchor House works to alleviate both homelessness and skills shortages. It is also a vital community hub recording 2,500 visits by the public each quarter including an After School Art Class, Music & Performing Arts Group, 2 senior citizen lunch clubs, weekly meetings of Cocaine and Alcoholics Anonymous to name but a few of the local groups regularly utilising the facilities. Anchor House has launched an appeal to refurbish its 50 yr old building to provide modern up to date facilities. So please support me in supporting the vital work of Anchor House www.anchorhouseuk.org
