Story
Dear All, as you know every year I take on what for me seems an impossible physical challenge to raise money for charity. This time it's cycling with the Money Spinners Paris to Pauillac Bordeaux from the 2nd - 11th September - 8 days gruelling cycling in aid of The Alzheimer's Society. My father suffered from severe dementia from his 50's and had to have care for a number of years and was in a nursing home for the last two years. He died aged 87 last December The support the Alzheimer's Society gave my mother and the rest of the family and still do is extraordinary. Alzheimer's destroys the person you love but the person remains alive so you can't really mourn. I in 5 of of us will be afflicted by the disease. There is no cure. But support, understanding, research and fantastic carers and care homes go a long way to helping both the sufferer and the family and friends touched by the impact of this most cruel disease.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Pass by that pint of beer or caffe latte tomorrow and donate the money to this cause. Lots of people giving a few pounds is as welcome, as those who are able to give a little more. Email this page to others who may have been effected by the impact of dementia on a friend of family member. Thank you as always for your generosity
