On Saturday 2^nd July the Reading & West Berks branch of the MND Association are holding a sponsored cycling challenge in Palmer Park, Reading.

All funds raised will be used directly to support people living with MND.

Our mixed team of people living with MND and able bodied supporters will cycle around Palmer Park’s Velodrome and athletics tracks. At present we have six disabled riders who will ride adapted trikes. We will have at least 20 riders in all and cover at least 200 miles in total, with the fittest riders doing more laps and disabled and less fit riders doing less.

As many of you know, my Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2009.Almost 2 years on from diagnosis we are dealing with the illness in the only way we know how. Spending quality time together and enjoying the laughter and drying the tears is what our family has done. We carry on as normal as much possible through this truly heartbreaking illness, although it is getting harder and harder. It is not only the person with MND that is affected (like any illness).To watch anyone you love go through so much is tough and life changing in so many different ways.

I have decided to help in as many ways as I can to raise awareness of MND and this is the first event I am taking part in along with my sister Sarah and my nephew Owain. Any donations will be greatly appreciated
