Story
As the Director of the Commando Spirit Appeal I am asking people to take on formidable Royal Marine style challenges and raise funds for Royal Marines and their families in need.
Each year there will be a Royal Marine style challenge; in 2011 The Dunker; in 2012 The Leap and in 2013 The Yomp and you can take on one, two or all three and raise serious funds for the Commando Spirit Appeal for the RMCTF.
I am so proud of our Commando Spirit "recruits" - civilians who all "Escaped the Dunker" at Aberdeen and Yeovilton. Although excited and nervous - counter intuitive to voluntarily put yourself underwater strapped into a helicopter fuselage - no one bottled it and everyone did themselves and the Corps proud. They definitely showed their courage for those who risk their all. The thirty participants look set to raise £200K.
Please do sponsor my efforts in making this Appeal happen and the efforts of all those taking on a Commando Spirit challenge. You can meet and sponsor all the recruits at www.commandospirit.com and through the Commando Spirit team page here at JustGiving.
Why the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund?
The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund helps Royal Marines and their families when they need it most. They aid the wounded and injured. The give quality of life to those returning from operations. And when the worst happens, they support the families of those who die in service. The RMCTF has the widest purposes of almost any service charity - quite simply, the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund will help when others cannot.

What is the Commando Spirit Series?
The Commando Spirit Series of events offers once-in-a-lifetime challenges to test your mettle and gain a rare and privileged insight into what it means to be a Royal Marine Commando today. The challenges will pit participants against some of the most formidable aspects of Commando training, stretch them to achieve their fundraising commitment of £10,000 each and buddy them up with a former or serving Royal Marine who will provide motivation and encouragement when the going gets tough.
