We provide wigs to children with cancer to restore their confidence and identity.

Story

For the 3rd year running Vic & I are taking part in the Pink Car Rally 2011. This takes place on Sunday 4th September 2010. This fantastic charity day is in aid of The Little Princess Trust.

The Little Princess Trust sources and pays for 'real hair' wigs for children who have lost their hair, primarily through cancer treatment.

The Little Princess Trust was started by Wendy & Simon Tarplee, who sadly lost their little girl, Hannah, to cancer in 2005. After her death, her parents decided to channel all of the support they received into setting up a charity dedicated to providing specialist wigs for children such as Hannah - She found losing her hair very traumatic and it was very difficult to source a realistic looking wig for children. Only after a long search was a suitable company found, who eventually made a wig for Hannah – something she could enjoy wearing. This company is now one of The Little Princess Trust's many suppliers.

To raise awareness and funds for the charity, in 2008 it was decided to hold the first Pink Car Rally, which is now an annual event. The 2009 Pink Car Rally was an amazing success, seeing the number of pink cars double from the first year. By 2010 there were nearly 50 cars along with the National Express winning Pink Coach!

The 2011 Pink Car Rally will run on Sunday 4th September, from Hereford Hospital to Cardiff Children's Hospital starting at 10am.

Please help us to support this amazing charity. As it is only a small, volunteer-run charity, it relies totally on donations and fund-raising efforts such as this. Every penny that you sponsor will go directly to the charity, and will help towards the cost of producing a wig for a child who has to cope with losing their hair. The cost of producing a real-hair wig is approx £300.00, and the charity supplies these to the children at no cost to their families. Some children can need more than one wig throughout the course of their illness - so every penny counts – please be as generous as you can. We are so proud that we can help to raise money and awareness for this very worthwhile charity.

Another way that you can help this wonderful cause is to spread the word of the Pink Car Rally. We need more pink cars to join in for the day. If you can send the link to this page to anyone one that you know who may have (or know anyone that has) a pink car, then we can make the 2011 rally even more spectacular!

This year sees Vic & I starting to grow our hair, so that we can both donate it to be made for wigs in September 2012 in the run up to the Lands End to John O'Groats rally - It will be wonderful to be able to give a little extra in support of the charity, and to help turn the money that we raise into wonderful wigs.

As happened last year, we shall be dressing from head to toe in pink for the day of the rally. This years costume will be even more wacky than last years, and we promise that there will be plenty of pictures to prove it. We are happy to make a complete fools of ourselves in order to grab more attention for the rally.

We shall be stopping at several official stops throughout the day, so why not come along with your ‘Little Princesses’ to see us? Your support will be so welcome! If you don't have a pink car but would like to join in, there will be tickets available to spend the day on the pink National Express coach, so you could come along for a great day out, and help us to raise awareness for The Little Princess Trust.
