Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in aid of Rosemere Cancer Centre at Preston Hospital.

I'm cycling 11 loops of 3 hills which are very local to me, Bell Lane, Strickens Lane & Long Lane, they run parallel to each other and 1 loop is 10 miles, the total ascent is 11,000ft.

My Story ...

The aim of my story is to raise awareness of the excellent work performed by the ‘Rosemere Cancer Foundation’ and to help raise funds for them. After been diagnosed with Stage 3 – Locally Advanced Prostate Cancer (T3b N1M0) in May of 2013 I have personally been helped by the Oncologists, Doctors and Nurses at the Rosemere Centre and have spent many hours there over the last 7 years attending clinics and having radiotherapy etc.

Without their dedication, skill and care I probably would not be here today telling this story and embarking on this challenge. My treatment is currently on-going and hopefully I will be around a while yet and be fully immersed in the fibres of the rich tapestry of life on planet earth.

This diagnosis gives you a different perspective on life. It’s a perspective you wish you had 20 years earlier but obviously under different circumstances. Seize the moment. Make every day count!

I have linked each hill with each of the charities.

Bell Lane – a nod to Rosemere Cancer Foundation within Preston Hospital.

Within the Radiotherapy section there is a Bell on the wall which gets rung when a patient has completed their course of radiotherapy, or chemotherapy. When I am riding up this hill, I will think of all those who have been able to ring that Bell or are currently having treatment and are looking forward to ringing it. Also, I will be thinking about all the people I’ve met and chatted to over the years over a coffee in the Rosemere café.

Regards

Colin
