We raise awareness and funds to combat the causes of homelessness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for Sunday Suppers, a local charity in association with The Fine & Country Foundation. Sunday Suppers feed around 50 people three nights a week in Bury St Edmunds. All staff volunteer to prepare freshly made food and a packed lunch for the next day.

I am joining The Fine & Country Foundation on 22nd June for the National Three Peaks Challenge. More than 30 of us will attempt to hike Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours. The challenge starts at the crack of dawn and included the drive from Scotland to England and finally to Wales.

Rough sleepers often endure terrible sleep on cold, wet and uncomfortable surfaces. Each morning they are woken by the bright sunlight, loud traffic or passers-by. Many do not have the opportunity to eat dinner and must try to go about their day without breakfast either. I will find the challenge exhausting, but it will be nothing compared to what homeless and vulnerable individuals experience on a day-to-day basis.

With your help, we can support more people to have regular, healthy meals so they have the strength to rebuild their lives.

About the charity

The Fine & Country Foundation has been created to help combat one of the largest social issues in the UK – homelessness. Last year, the Government estimated around 2,414 people sleep on the street on any one night across England, a rise of 36% over three years. Often the reasons for homelessness are misunderstood, with many blaming the individuals for poor life decisions and carelessness. The reality is: people become homeless for a whole range of complex and overlapping reasons that cannot be avoided, such as family breakdowns, mental or physical health problems or debts. Solving homelessness does not only involve putting a roof over people’s heads, it is also trying to tackle the root of the problem and asking the question: why did they became homeless in the first place? The Fine & Country Foundation is dedicated to bringing together all Fine & Country agents in over 300 locations worldwide to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness whilst supporting homeless charities.
