In January 2019 I started running using the Couch to 5k app, with no idea if I could do it or not simply to get a bit fitter ahead of the DVLA inviting me for a medical to keep my HGV licence! I've now signed up to the Hull 10k, and have decided to run in memory of my nephew Alfie Tyers-Thomas, our Alfie Bear, who lost his fight against DIPG in June 2014. Around 40 children a year are diagnosed with DIPG in the UK, there is a 0% survival rate, this hasn't changed in over 50 years. Alfie Bear's Journey Fund raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity is helping fund ground breaking research and clinical trials to try and change this so that in the future parents will have more hope when they are faced with the news that their child has a DIPG tumour.
