Story

On 29 January 2018, my youngest and beloved brother (Khyas) sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer. He showed courage, dignity, humility and compassion even in his final breaths. Khyas devoted his entire life trying to understand the purpose of our existence, our special relationship with nature and its countless bounties, but most of all our responsibilities and duty to care for the less privileged.

In the memory of my brother, I am taking part in Walk for Water with #TeamOrange on Saturday 29 June 2019.  The aim is to build as many water wells as possible for those around the world who do not have access to clean water. By conquering Mount Snowdon (with your help), we will be able to build a well in my brother's name.

Here in the developed world we take clean water for granted - it flows freely from our taps -this is a luxury that poor countries do not have. Countless poor people have no choice but to drink dirty and diseased water, knowing it could kill them. Everyday around 4000 children die from drinking diseased infected water, that is one child every 20 seconds.

Penny Appeals Thirst Relief Project is installing wells in countries across Africa and Asia to give communities reliable access to clean water. This means they can drink, wash, grow crops and water their animals safely. A nearby well also means people do not have to spend hours walking to get water allowing them instead to go to work, school or look after relatives. It provides communities are chance to have a healthier lives and a route out of poverty.

You can make a difference today by donating, even as little as a £1, a small contribution which will an ever lasting impact on a community in a different part of the world. For every £300 raised, a water well will be provided to a village in Africa/Asia that currently has no access to clean water. Once the well is constructed and complete, we will be provided a full report with photographs of the life - saving water well.

With your generous support, every step I take as I walk up Mount Snowdon will not only improve many lives around the world, but will also allow me to embody the ideals that my brother held dear to him. It will be a small step in trying to build a befitting legacy to a remarkable human being.

Thank you for making a difference in an imperfect world.
