Every time I come across a women’s rights organisation I see the world changing for the better but as powerful as these movements are, my heart breaks a little because I am faced with the harsh realities that my sisters are also facing.

It has taken me a long sleepless night and a heavy heart to write this appeal to you:

I just watched a video of a penny appeal volunteer speaking to Fatima, a trauma councillor who is working with women at the Balukhali Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Fatima explained how a young girl was raped alongside her mother, sisters and cousin - they were all locked up in one room and raped by 6 or 7 men on numerous occasions until they lost their lives. Only ONE girl survived and managed to flee Rohingya, naked. She is one of the 500,000 of refugees that need our support.

I wish I could stop the genocide but unfortunately that isn’t in my control, so instead I have decided to climb to the basecamp of the world's tallest mountain, Mount Everest reaching over 18,000ft!

I suppose being slightly adventurous I could get away with the concept but for those that know me well, know that I am nothing without my bed and I’ve signed up to 17 days of sleeping rough & facing the extreme weather conditions of the Himalayas. P.s. I HAVE NEVER DONE ANY TREKKING IN MY LIFE! CRAZY MUCH!!!

As if that wasn’t all, I have joined the team as a late starter and only have a couple of months to reach the target a target of £4,500 - but I am not complaining because I have faith in you all and believe you will support me in not only reaching this target but smashing it - so with full faith in humankind let’s raise £10,000 to help facilitate not only food, water and clothes but a women friendly space and hygiene & sanitation supplies.

I have pledged that the entire fund raised will be solely dedicated to help the victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in these camps.
