Story

Who am I?

Welcome to my page and thank you for taking time out to read my story. I have been blessed to have been born and raised in Amazing Africa and I now live in the UK. I have countless passions & hobbies and I am constantly challenging myself against the norm to be the best version of myself. I am an adrenaline junkie and have been part of many adventures ranging from silly to out right crazy! My ambition is to travel the whole world to keep learning, breaking down barriers and absorbing beautiful moments humanity has to offer. With God’s blessing, I have travelled to 22 Countries so far and I’ve just begun!

What am I doing?

I am undertaking a 17 day trip to hike up to the Basecamp of Mount Everest. This is situated at an altitude of 5380m (17,600ft) above sea-level. The Oxygen Level at this height is 50% less than sea-level.

Am I crazy? Yes. Define Normal?

Amongst my many hobbies, mountaineering stands out above all (no pun intended). I grew up near a 3000m peak where I started climbing as a teenager and fell in love with it instantly. With each adventure, I made friends (also crazy) that became no less than family. Mountains are simply magnetic to me and my soul is at ease above the clouds. I’ve had an insane bucket list which is more like an oil drum list now. With God’s will, I am planning to summit Mt Everest (8,848m) in a few years and this expedition will be an introduction to the majestic mountain.

Who am I doing this with?

I had planned to climb to Everest Basecamp at the start of the year and I sought out Penny Appeal amongst many due to their ethos. Please go through their website pennyappeal.org to see who they are and the countless projects they are involved in over 30 crisis hit countries world wide. Every penny I raise will be spent in proving aid.

Why am I doing this?

Growing up in one of the poorest countries in the world, I have witnessed the lack of basic resources for people. Global Human Crisis is at an unprecedented level and Global Connectivity is at the highest it’s ever been. I’m sure you are aware of some, if not most of the crisis.

My appeal to you is for the Rohingyan Refugee Crisis. Amnesty International describes the Rohingya as "one of the most persecuted minorities in the world". More than one million people from the mainly-Muslim minority group lived in Myanmar at the start of 2017, with the majority in Rakhine State. The systematic discrimination against the Rohingya people has left them living in deplorable conditions and segregated, with limited access to schools, healthcare and jobs. The UN has described the latest mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar as "the world's fastest growing refugee crisis" and "a textbook example of ethnic cleansing".

Amnesty International said security forces then went on to carry out a "targeted campaign of widespread and systematic murder, rape and burning". There were reports of sexual violence against Rohingya women and entire villages being burned to the ground. More than 600,000 people have fled the violence, bringing the total number of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh to around 900,000. Those that survive have given harrowing accounts of death and violence, including hundreds of cases of rape, which is sometimes used as a military strategy. The Rohingya situation "seems a textbook example of ethnic cleansing", according to the United Nations' human rights chief.
