Story
Having achieved success last year by completing the 25 mile Yorkshire 3 Peaks Charity Challenge, I thought this year I would take part in a more 'knee friendly' challenge, so between 14-16 September, I will be heading up to Cumbria/Northumberland to trek a 25 mile section of the 2000 year old Hadrian's Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As many of you know, my wonderful daughter Jasmin was born with a facial CMN (an abbreviation of Congenital Melanocytic Naevus, a type of birthmark that may appear in newborn babies), and she has undergone many operations at the fabulous Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to have it removed. As a result, I became involved with a CMN support charity (www.caringmattersnow.co.uk), later joining the Board of Trustees. I am currently honourded to be the charity's Treasurer.
The charity has 3 main objectives: 1) To support those families affected by CMN, 2) To raise awareness about CMN, and 3) To raise funds for CMN research.
I am very proud to be associated with this charity which has, to date, raised over £250,000 to fund clinical research into CMN at GOSH.
