Millie's Miles
Campaign by Just4Children (RCN 1164473)
Just4Children are raising money for Millie to receive life changing SDR Surgery allowing her to walk more freely.

Story

Millie is nearly 4 years old, she has spastic diplegia Cerebral Palsy. This affects Millie’s ability to walk without the help of aids. Millie’s Legs have increased muscle Tone causing stiffness, balance and coordination problems.

People who meet Millie will see her determination and happiness, but she becomes frustrated when her cerebral Palsy stops her from taking part in activities that children her own age can easily do.

Sadly there is no cure for Cerebral palsy, however there is a life changing operation that Millie is suitable for, called ‘Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy’ (SDR). The operation involves identifying nerve roots in the spine that cause the Spasticity in her legs. These nerves are then separated and cut.

The Surgery is highly successful and would mean Millie would be able to move more freely and would lead a life without the reliance of walking aids our wheelchairs. Unfortunately the NHS no longer fund the operation. The operation and intensive Physio afterwards will cost around £17,000, which is why we are looking to raise the funds.

All of the money raised will go towards the surgery, intensive physio and targeted training therapy after the operation.
