Story
One of our 2018 objectives is to have a social purpose for the Optimise Group of companies. We are very appreciative of the lives we have and want give something back to society.
We have decided to adopt Unicef as our chosen charity. They help
children in danger by providing education, life-saving food & nutrition,
clean water, vaccines, relief in emergencies and protection from violence. They’re also global, non-religious and work across 190 countries, so we felt they represent a very close fit in terms of our values and ability to help children in every country where we have a presence, regardless of gender, nationality or religion.
I was originally planning to cycle L'Etape Brasil at the end of September, however, work plans mean this is no longer possible. Instead, I will be cycling Fleche Wallonne in Belgium in May, at my own expense.
La Fleche Wallonne is a famous one-day cycling classic and one of the three 'Ardennes classics' taking part in the Wallonia region of Belgium. The distance is 213km with 3,816m of elevation, including several steep climbs with gradients up to 21%. I'll be cycling Fleche Wallonne on Saturday 12 May 2018.
Many of our Optimise colleagues in Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Poland, Singapore and the UK will also be doing various other fund raising initiatives throughout the year for Unicef, so please watch this space.
