Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to view this page. This charity has changed my whole outlook on life and made me feel, for the first time in my life that...........i'm not alone anymore. I have met some wonderful people through the charity(Ann & Bronagh) just to mention as couple. I hope to be able to raise enough money so that the work that the charity is doing which you can read more about on their website www.caringmattersnow.co.uk can continue and also until people like me, among others can stop feeling so alone. I am doing the Hadrians wall trek in September to raise funds for this amazing charity without who, I would still be alone. Caring Matters Now is the only UK dedicated charity that supports people affected by Congenital Melanocytic Naevi (CMN), a rare disorder affecting the skin and brain. CMN is an association of dark brown/black birthmarks (moles) which can cover up to 80% of the body. My own covers between 30-40% of my body. CMN are mostly untreatable and carry an increased risk of malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer. CMN syndrome is the association of these moles with neurological problems including brain tumours, spinal tumours, developmental complications, fluid on the brain and/or characteristic facial features.
Caring Matters Now works in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, funding the CMN research.
The ultimate aim of the CMN research is to try to develop treatments for CMN, including the neurological complications and the devastating, fatal malignant melanoma. The funds raised from this challenge will allow them to continue to support all those affected by CMN, provide emergency medical care for those given a fatal diagnosis and provide the much needed funding to further the pioneering CMN research headed up by Dr Kinsler at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Institute of Child Health London. The cause has been found, now lets find a cure. #caringmattersnow
