I will be running the Sheffield Half Marathon in April with a team from the University of Sheffield to raise money for a great cause, the Sheffield Scanner Appeal, because Sheffield and the region needs an MRI-PET.

MRI-PET is the most powerful imaging technology currently available and this facility would transform our research by increasing our understanding of the causes, effects and development of many kinds of disease, including Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Heart and lung diseases, Motor Neurone Disease and Stroke.

The MRI-PET Facility would be located at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on the central University campus, ideal for both direct clinical use and for research programmes. This would be the first MRI-PET Facility in Yorkshire and a vital investment in the health of people in this region, across the UK and beyond. £1M has been raised so far, £1M more to go.
