Like most families nowadays mine has been touched by cancer sadly in many ways.
My sister in law lost her fight against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1994, the day before me and my wife were to be married. Sadly four years later my wife lost her father to lung cancer.
In both cases Macmillan gave tremendous support and respite to my wife's family, for which we are eternally grateful.
Over the last year I have undergone a massive lifestyle change and lost 9st 7lbs, prior to this my exercise level was non-existent. I am now in a position to undertake physical challenges as means of keeping my weight off, getting fit and raising money for well worthy charities such as Macmillan as a way of giving something back and allowing them to be there are give another family that same support.
To achieve my goal I have entered the Ultra Ultimate challenge, a yearlong challenge with a pledge to walk, run, jog a minimum of 2,000 km or 1,240 miles. The distance is recorded via Strava as means of verifying that I am completing the challenge fairly. So to assist me in covering the distance I have entered a number of challenges throughout the year as well as participating in my local Parkrun every week.
So please whatever you can spare is gratefully appreciated
