We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

One man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer - that's two men during a football match - but it doesn't have to be this way. The aim is turn the game around for men everywhere - to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

The stats from Football to Amsterdam 2017:

§  380 football fans

§  145 miles cycled

§  £600,000 raised

£600,000 could pay
for over a year's worth of life-saving research to save a man's life.

These hard-hitting facts together with the inspiration and determination of Phillip Coates of St Albans City FC, (who personally faced the challenges of Prostate Cancer) triggered our decision. We are proud to announce that we will be joining their team to ride alongside him and support many other men facing this disease.

As friends and local amateur cyclists (Besford's Best!) this will be a massive achievement to cover the 145 mile journey over 2 days.  Our aim is to raise a minimum of £1000 per cyclist with all funds donated directly to Prostrate Cancer UK.  I am reaching out to those who may be willing to support me in this amazing challenge by donating, every single donation matters and will build towards my individual target of £1000 and our team target of £6000.

Not only will I need to get on my bike for some serious training but as a team, we will also be organising fund raising events over the next 8 months to ensure we reach that target.

In 2013, 30 hardy fans joined the fight against prostate cancer and took their respective club into Europe, cycling 150 miles to Amsterdam. Between 2014 and 2017, the number of riders rose from 150 to 350, and the event now involves three different start locations and over 400 fans from over 60 clubs.

Prostate Cancer UK are a truly dedicated charity who support, find answers and lead change to help more men survive cancer. They are leading the fight against prostate cancer through funding groundbreaking research, driving improvements in treatment, and fighting injustice in care. Their toughest challenge yet: to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Thank you for taking time to consider our request for support. By donating, together we can help make a difference to the lives of men affected by prostate cancer and their families.
