We support disadvantaged 11-30 year olds to get their lives on track.

Story

My earliest childhood memories are from the perspective of a child's seat on the back of my mom's bike.  I can still see my dad leading the brigade, with my sister riding in between and our bright orange windbreakers and safety flags flapping in the wind.  Inheriting my big sister's daisy flower, banana seat bike with the handlebar tassels when she graduated to a 10-speed was a major event in my childhood.  My dad imparted his love for cycling to our entire family, and many summer and fall weekends and holidays were spent on a ride to the zoo or some park for a picnic.

One of my last cherished memories with my dad was rollerblading beside him on his bike while we rolled along the Mississippi River one late morning during a trip home from out-of-state. As we passed near his former office building, he chuckled that if he hadn't taken early retirement, he would still be stuck inside at that moment instead of enjoying the beautiful day with me.  My dad was a good man with a joy for life and a kind heart, so I take part in this charitable cycling event knowing that he would have approved and encouraged me to do my best for a good cause.

The Prince's Trust is an incredibly worthwhile cause, helping younger people who are unemployed or struggling at school to transform their lives, and along with that, all of our futures.  Many of the young people are in, or leaving, foster care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or troubles with the law.  Established in 1976 by Prince Charles, the Trust has helped over 825,000 young people turn their lives around during the last 40 years.
