We enable the creation of marine reserves to reverse the crisis in our oceans

Story

I decided to join this cycling race from London to Monaco as it is organised by the Blue Marine Foundation in order to raise awareness and money for the protection of the Oceans. I will cycle from Lyon to Monaco from the 20th to the 26th of September 2017, 680 km and 12,000 m of elevation. I am very glad to have the support of MYBA, the Worldwide Yachting Association and its 200+ members. I want to cycle for all of them and share the good work we all do for the yachting industry.

The need to save our oceans has become more urgent than ever before. Because many of us may not be regular ocean goers or seafarers, we may have little awareness on how vulnerable the oceanic side of the Earth's ecosystem is right now. More urgent and active involvement is required from everyone, including me. It starts with you and continues all the way up to the most important legislatures of our respective governments.

The Blue Marine Foundation exists to combat over-fishing and the destruction of biodiversity – arguably the largest problem facing the world’s oceans – by delivering practical conservation solutions, including the creation of large-scale marine reserves. BLUE’s aim is to put 10% of the world’s oceans under protection by 2020 and 30% by 2030. They also work to establish sustainable fisheries so fish stocks can begin to recover.
