We Raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease to Fund Support, Awareness, and Research

Story

So the Swimming odyssey continues, New Year, New Challenge and a New Charity. The Solent, one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes and we are going to be swimming across it. In the process trying to avoid all of the, what can be rather large shipping, flowing around out there.

Having chosen the Challenge I then needed to find a group that were organising a swim across the Solent. This leads me to the new Charity for my fund raising for this year.

The Ian Pratt MND Foundation.

The Ian Pratt MND Foundation was set up by Ian Pratt in 2016 to support people living with MND.

It has three main aims:

1, To raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease, MND
2, To support those affected by MND and their families
3, To support research into the causes and hopefully, one day, a cure for MND, in particular the research being undertaken by professor Pam Shaw at SITraN in Sheffield.

Ian wrote the following on 19th October 2016.

The Ian Pratt MND Foundation was established to support people and families living with MND.

100% of funds raised go directly into fulfilling charitable objectives, we do not spend donations on salaries, as we do not have ANY PAID STAFF. We don’t lease cars, buildings or equipment.

We have 7 trustees who volunteer their time AND have been directly affected by the devastation caused by MND.

Our only motivation is to improve the lives of people living with MND and our vested interest is finding a cure as we have lived or are living with this disease.

We are a fledgling charity and need your help NOW. You can donate (worldwide) using this link OR if you are running a marathon, jumping out of a plane, flinging yourself over an embankment or viaduct, peddling until your bum hurts, getting down and dirty in an endurance rally or having a coffee morning, please nominate us on your Just Giving as your preferred charity.

Our charity is registered with the Charities Commission in England.

I can assure you that the Foundation will appreciate and direct your donation directly to our charitable objectives.

Please share, share and share this post. Together we will make a difference to families devastated by Motor Neurone Disease.

Thank you

Ian Pratt
