Story

The Naomi Fund was set up to celebrate the life of Naomi Fardell, daughter of Dean & Michelle, who sadly passed away having been born with congenital heart defects.

Over the years many events have been organised in Naomi’s memory with monies raised going to Great Ormond Street Hospital, Heart link @ Glenfield Hospital, Leicester and The Kingfisher Ward & Community Team at Grantham Hospital. Naomi frequently visited all of these places during her short life.

In 2013 & 2015 the Naomi Bike Challenge Team’s raised a grand total of £45,150.25, which was distributed to the 3 hospitals named above. Next year we want to do better!

Willow was founded in 1999 by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson and his wife, Megs, as a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Her self-named ‘Special Days’ became a focus for quality of time and quality of life, providing a welcome distraction from the challenging realities of living with a serious and life-threatening illness and restoring some normality back into all their lives.

With the Grantham families of Chris Curtis (Teresa) & Sarah Copeland (Debbie & Sue) strongly supporting Willow after their passing, we feel that this is such a good cause too, that this year we are going to donate to this also.

Therefore, on Friday 21st July 2017, a team of 26 riders will set off from Great Ormond Street Hospital, London at 12 o’clock and arriving at the Eiffel Tower, Paris at 12 o’clock on Saturday 22nd July 2017.

A total of 270.2 miles in 24 hours with all monies raised being distributed among the above named hospitals and causes.
