Story
I am racing in the Team PHenomenal Hope Let Me Be Your Lungs Program in honor of Daniel Torres. Daniel was born with two heart defects that were repaired when he was only two days old. After his liver began failing, he was diagnosed with biliary atresia and needed a liver transplant. Daniel was lucky enough to receive one when he was just six months old. His family thought everything was over, and they could bring our baby home to finally start their new life. But it only lasted six months. At barely one year old, Daniel was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). His family was terrified when they heard the word “incurable.” They felt helpless, but tried so hard not feel hopeless. Yet despite his illness, Daniel emanates endurance, courage, and compassion. Daniel is a warrior who has taught many to go on despite the struggles.
Pulmonary hypertension is a serious, rare, progressive condition characterized by vasoconstriction and remodeling of the arteries of the lungs.
