This month I am taking part in 'My Marathon' to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. So thoughout this month i will be running at least the distance of 2 marathons. This charity has a special significance to our family. 10 years ago one of our sons was diagnosed with a heart condition that led him to go into heart failure. In the November we were told that he was not likely to make it to Christmas. Thanks to the staff at the Royal Brompton Hospital, frontline research and trial medication I am happy to say that he is still with us today and doing great. No amount of money I raise can repay what we have been given but every pound may well help provide some new research that will help another person or family at a time when they feel there is no hope. Please give what you can for this charity and don't forget to select gift aid. Thank you The pandemic is the biggest challenge we've faced in our 60 year history. And it's led to us being forced to make the devastating decision to cut our 2020 research budget in half. So the truth is, we've never needed people like you more. Virtual fundraising challenges like Mymarathon are a way to help us keep up the pace of progress. Your willpower will be funnelled into ground-breaking science and support for the people who need us most. Because despite everything else happening at the moment, heart and circulatory diseases are still the world's biggest killers. For the sake of our mums and dads, brothers and sisters, grandparents and friends - we can't drop the ball now.
