As the 2021 Summer Season approaches, it will be most likely the busiest one yet in the RNLI’s history. For nearly 200 years the crews have courageously been answering Mayday calls and saving lives at sea. The RNLI crew members and lifeguards are people who stop whatever they are doing at a moment’s notice to answer the call. Now they need our help to support their lifesaving work. Here in landlocked Church Stretton, the local RNLI Fundraising Branch are keen to support the RNLI ‘Mayday Mile Appeal’. We are planning a ‘virtual’ walk from Church Stretton, firstly heading westwards to Aberystwyth Lifeboat Station. We will then meander northwards up the Welsh coast calling at Lifeboat stations along the way before reaching Llandudno on the north wales coast, returning home by an inland route. A total distance of 300 miles, to be covered during May. (The ‘actual’ walking will be done in Shropshire.) Your donations in support of our challenge will help provide the necessary training, lifeboats, equipment and protective clothing. These are all vital to give the crews the ability to save lives and bring everyone home safely. Please help us reach our target figure. Thank you for your donations.
