Story
There are children and families across Scotland who have no books at home or any access to books. With nurseries, schools and libraries closed, this situation is bleak for many and unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.
You love books and know the huge difference books make to children's lives, the magic and joy they bring. Books fire their imaginations and provide a place to escape from challenging circumstances. Reading together helps families bond. Books are also crucial to children's learning, and reading for fun supports development across all school subjects.
Without books, these children and families are missing out.
We are working with local authorities across Scotland, and other charities, including Social Bite and Cyrenians, and want to reach as many children and families in need as possible.
We have books, notepads, pencils and learning resources in our warehouse but we need your urgent support to help us to distribute them to those who need them most.
£5 will ensure that a child in Scotland receives books and fun reading and writing activities. And an existing supporter of Scottish Book Trust has pledged to double every single pound you donate up to a total of £10,000.
By donating to this appeal, you will help get urgently needed books to children and families all over Scotland.
Thank you.
(If you choose to share your details with us, we will keep you updated on the appeal and thank you properly!)
If we raise enough funds for our distribution, your money will continue to support our work helping families in need. Examples of our projects include supporting vulnerable families with babies and young children to start them on their reading journey together, providing tactile books for children with additional support needs and supporting those living with dementia, and their carers.
