Story
A lack of access to safe and clean water is a reality for some countries. Individuals have no choice but to drink contaminated water in order to survive. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), at least 2 billion people use contaminated water as their main source to access water. This results in the transmission of diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid etc as well as death. Approximately 502,000 deaths were associated with contaminated drinking water. This is one of the common causes of death in developing countries.
The thirst relief campaign by Penny Appeal helps to address this issue by helping to build wells in countries that require it most. For example, Bangladesh, Somalia, India, Sudan, Pakistan and many more. The campaign is helping to provide safe water to drink, clean, grow crops and hydrate animals. Therefore, reducing the risk of transmitting diseases and death. All this can be done through us working together and donating what we can to help improve the lives of others.
