In this upcoming august I will be climbing the Ben Nevis mountain with the charity 'Penny Appeal' who I volunteer for. I've only ever climbed 1 mountain before (Mount Snowdon). I was 14  at the time and did it in the cause of supporting acid attack victims in foreign countries. It was a challenging experience, but so satisfying when I reached the top and seeing what I had just accomplished, and when I got to present the check to one of the victims, I was so proud of myself for raising £600 all on my own.

The money I fundraise from my Ben Nevis climb will all go towards Penny Appeals 'Thirst Relief' campaign. Raising just £300 will enable Penny Appeal to build a well in Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh or India. Places where clean water is rare. Families rely on rivers and streams for cleaning themselves and drinking from, causing so many diseases and health problems.  1 well will help just one community, but imagine if we manage to raise enough to fund 2,3 or even 4 wells? Once the money I raise goes towards its cause Ill get updates on the progress of the well, and pictures will be shared on all the good its bringing in the cities the wells are built in. 

I also get the opportunity to put the well in my name or a name of a loved one. I hope to put the first well in the name of my Grandad, Muhammad Gazanfar Zaffar. Unfortunately I never got the pleasure of meeting him but what I do know is that he was one of the most inspirational people in my Fathers family. He was the eldest of his brothers, the person everyone looked up to. He'd approach everything with ease and calmness and he loved to help those in need, Im always striving to be just like him. Im always looking through old family albums and admiring images of him, his smile makes me smile. I know if he was here today he would be climbing that mountain with me, therefore it feels right for me to climb this mountain with him in mind, along with all the families who will benefit from each well we manage to build.
