Story

In Bangladesh over 1.5 million people live in modern slavery (Global Slavery Index 2016). Endemic poverty, corruption and natural disasters all create the perfect conditions for traffickers to recruit and exploit victims. As part of our multi-dimensional approach to fighting slavery in Bangladesh, we are pioneering a unique prevention programme to stop vulnerable women in low paid jobs from falling into the hands of traffickers.

Our teams conduct trafficking awareness training sessions inside garment factories in Dhaka and Jessore, helping women to understand their rights, choices and the realities of safe and unsafe migration.  We've trained hundreds of women and girls already and want to extend the reach of the programme to help protect one thousand more over the coming months.
