Story

Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust is the UK's leading cervical cancer charity. We were founded in 1999 by James Maxwell in memory of his wife Jo, who died from cervical cancer at the age of 40.

Following Jo's diagnosis the family had difficulty finding good information about every aspect of cervical cancer. It was their hope that one day everyone would have access to the best information and support. Most importantly for Jo, it was her wish that women affected by cervical cancer would have the opportunity to communicate with others facing similar challenges.

Jo's legacy lives on through the work of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. We're here for everyone who needs us, for as long as they need us but we won't stop until the day that cervical cancer is no more. Cervical cancer can be devastating but we're here to reduce the impact. We provide trustworthy information, campaign for change and provide support at every step.

I phoned your helpline today feeling a bag of nerves about my upcoming appointment and I spoke to a lovely lady who made me feel great, it was like speaking to a friend." - Helpline caller

Most of our fundraising events have been cancelled and as much as 50% of our income could be lost this year. The current coronavirus pandemic means that people are facing changes to cancer treatment, are waiting longer for results and having screening appointments postponed. Every day we are hearing from more and more women who are anxious, confused and scared. We urgently need your help to keep our services open.
