Its time to get active, because nature needs your help. Join our challenge Move for trees, complete 50km of activity between 1 -31 October, and raise money, or donate, to help plant more trees.

Do 50km your way, whenever and wherever you like! Steps around your house, a jog round the block or a cycle through the woods. Take a day, a week or the whole month. Every kilometre you travel and every £5 you raise will help plant a tree, and more trees will do us all the world of good. However you choose to cover the distance, whether thats walking, running, cycling or another activity, if you raise or donate £100 by 31 October, youll plant 20 trees and help make a greener, more welcoming world for future generations to enjoy. It costs just £5 to plant one tree sapling how many trees will you plant?

Raise or donate £50 and well send you an exclusive National Trust running buff to keep you warm out there while youre completing the challenge.

Raise or donate £100 and youll be in with a chance to win a £500 National Trust holiday voucher.

Trees provide homes for wildlife, reduce flooding and clean our air. Today the UK is the least wooded country in Europe, and 41% of UK wildlife species have been in decline since 1970. With your support were determined to reverse this decline and plan for the future of woodlands to tackle climate change. Trees are our best natural defence against the climate crisis which is why the National Trust has pledged to plant and establish 20 million trees by 2030. Our approach will deliver tree planting projects that benefit both people and nature. When you plant a tree, you contribute to reducing emissions, as these hardy plants work hard to lock up carbon. These trees will also open up new habitats for wildlife such as the red squirrel, the hazel dormouse, the greater spotted woodpecker and other birds like the song thrush and the red kite. Trees are good for nature. Theyre good for the climate. And theyre good for people. It costs just £5 to plant one sapling and help grow the woodland of the future. How many trees will you plant?

£250 will plant 500 square metres of woodland and help nature to thrive

Our ambition to plant and establish 20 million trees by 2030 is already underway. Thanks to donations weve already received, we've been able to plant tens of thousands of young saplings across the UK over the past year. We've also identified sites for a further 1.5 million trees to be planted during the next two years. Watch this video to find out what tree planting is already happening thanks to our supporters. Taking part in our Move for trees challenge will mean more projects like this can happen, and you'll help nature thrive so many more people like you will be able to create new memories with their loved ones in the shade of these beautiful and essential giants.
